The challenge
Cost, distance and the shortage of specialist surgical services left treatable conditions such as cataracts, pterygium and hernia untreated for years, alongside undetected hypertension, diabetes and tuberculosis.
The intervention
A structured outreach delivering surgical and medical services in each of the nine federal constituencies of Osun State, with a target of approximately 2,000 beneficiaries per constituency. Services included cataract, pterygium, hernia and other surgical interventions, and treatment for hypertension, diabetes, malaria, respiratory illnesses, tuberculosis and other medical conditions.
